Controllers interested in training on Icelandic, Greenlandic or Faroese positions should…
- Consult the General Procedures for Iceland which includes all operational information
- Take a look at the Iceland Training Programme which sets out the system of training
- Submit a training request from TAS.
Iceland offers three different streams of training. First and foremost is individual and group sessions for VATSIM Scandinavia controllers who already hold an ATC rating from another VATSIM Scandinavia country (Denmark, Norway, Sweden or Finland). These sessions are prioritised to ensure the quickest integration into our controlling team. Second priority training is for visiting controllers to VATSIM Scandinavia, that is, those who hold a C1 rating awarded by any region in the world. Naturally, this will need to include extensive explanations of Northern European airspace and phraseology, requiring more time. Finally, Iceland also takes in students who would like to gain their full rating in Iceland. This is a time-consuming process and due to Iceland’s sparse mentoring resources, these students are lowest in priority for training.
We leave it to you to decide which stream you want to join.
